Foreign Exchange Students

We are very pleased to be able to participate in Rotarys Foreign Exchange program. Under the guidance of Jeff Masters we host at least one student every year and in most years are able to send a student overseas.

Students are selected by a committee based on their abilities and accomplishments. The program is for the entire school year.

As hosts for incoming students, we are always looking for families that are willing to take the student in for a minimum of 3 months. Students attend classes at Rush-Henrietta and participate in normal school activities. In addition, there are a number of Rotary activities planned for them and, of course, they attend our club meetings whenever feasible.

Some of the students who have participated in this program include:

Danny Gaytán, our current exchange student, is from Tepic, Mexico. While in the USA she wants to enjoy winter sports that are not available in Mexico like ice skating and snow skiing. Her brother Roberto was an exchange student to Australia last year.

Henrik Backstrom is visiting from Karlskrona, Sweden. He enjoys sports and is on the track and field team for Rush Henrietta High School.

Jorge Pujol Del Rio visited from Marbella, Spain. He likes Snow Boarding, chess, soccer and playing the guitar.
