Scholarships

Each year, the Rush-Henrietta Rotary Club gives out several scholarships. Here is a summary of the current programs.

Henrietta Rotary President's Scholarship

This $2000 award recognizes students who have demonstrated “Service Above Self” and have made a commitment to further their education by attending a two or four year college. The award honors the past Presidents of the Rush-Henrietta Rotary Club. To be eligible, the individual must be a student, a resident of Rush-Henrietta, and a graduating Senior.

The Committee reviews applications in May and the award is made in June of each year.

The Starkweather Scholarship

This $2000 award recognizes students who have demonstrated “Service Above Self” and have made a commitment to pursue a career in education. The award honors the memory of Mr. James Starkweather a founding member of the Rush-Henrietta Rotary Club. Mr. Starkweather was a respected educator in the district, serving as a teacher, administrator of arts programs, and elementary school principal.

The Committee reviews applications in May and the award is made in June of each year.

Ed Robinson Scholarship

This $2000 award is presented in the name of Doctor Edward Robinson. Ed was a very active member of the Rush-Henrietta Rotary Club. He was also the doctor of record for most of the Rush-Henrietta sports teams and very active with youth and school programs. He was the first black student to graduate from the University of Rochester Medical School.

The University of Rochester Medical School determines the recipient from it's student body and the student is presented the award at a club meeting in June.
