Each year, the Rush-Henrietta Rotary Club gives out several scholarships. Here is a
summary of the current programs.
Meyer/Derman ScholarshipThis $1000 award is presented on behalf of Marvin Meyer and Bernie Derman. Both were very active members and supporters of the Rush-Henrietta Rotary Club and Camp Haccamo until their untimely death in a plane crash in October, 1988. To be eligible, the individual must be a student, a resident of Rush-Henrietta, a graduating Senior, and a recipient of Special Education Services. The Committee reviews applications in May and the award is presented at the Rush-Henrietta District Awards Ceremony in June. Jack King Memorial ScholarshipThis $500 award is presented in the name of Jack King. Jack was a Past President of the Rush-Henrietta Rotary Club and a Past District Governor. He was the Construction Manager at Alfred Tech so it was fitting indeed when the club chose to remember him by presenting an Alfred Tech student with this scholarship. The recipient is chosen by the Rush-Henrietta School District and recognized at their Annual Awards Program. The School receives the scholarship only after the student has completed their first semester. Ed Robinson Scholarship The University of Rochester Medical School determines the recipient from it's student body and the student is presented the award at a club meeting in June. |
